Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, many players are voicing discontent with several of the title's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Gamers have begun turning to custom matches set up using the custom game tool to complete them, emphasizing just how arduous these challenges have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. It features four categories of assignments, but where most simply offer skins and a few gadgets, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of getting 12 of the 41 primary weapons found within the game.
Several of these restricted firearms could shortly find their way on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash on Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is extremely unreliable and only works at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you want to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Extremely Difficult Task
Another Reddit user brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns
This is challenging enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and possibly a classic map if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.
The Alternative Method
Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.
However, when completing the missions in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It is expected if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.
Currently, the player base continues to express their views on these strenuous in-game tasks, anticipating a less arduous overall gameplay in coming revisions.
